Language: The "X"

For a while, I always thought that hand signals were universal. Obviously that got debunked the moment I stepped into Korea. They're all different from what I'm used to!

Here's one I totally love... It's when the locals cross both hands in front of their chests like Ultra Man.

For simplicity sake, let's just call this action ~ The "X".

Caught a picture of a perfect scenario, where the execution of The "X" would be appropriate. This was taken while up in Seoul two weekends ago and thought it would be great to illustrate the meaning of The "X"!

This was a picture of a dancing girl, who are typical of those hired for store openings and promotions. Interpret it as you may, of what she is trying to say.

Since The "X" is generally a sign of disapproval/disagreeing in Korea, any of the pictures above would be about right. But if you asked me, I think "No pictures you $@#%!" would be the most accurate. ;)

Gnightgirl: Yes, I took that picture in full view of the public. I should've known better... but was funny :D

Jo: Ha ha ha, yes. The waving cupped hand signal in Italian seems like a normal thing to use during a conversation. It could even mean F-You. But in Southern India, it simply means "Do you vant to eeeeat?" :P

Louyau: Ultramen... darn cool they were!

Next time if you want to get photos of the new-business-dancing-girls:

1) Get drunk
2) Unbutton your shirt half way
3) Approach said girls while dancing.
4) Have a friend take photos.

It worked for me...
