Stuff: Crazy about phones

Another thing that tells you about how important mobile/cell-phones are to Koreans... This booth was perched at the train station waiting room.

This is a charging bay for mobile phones. It has a bay for every Anycall (brand) model available. There were a total of 17 different bays.

I didn't know that they had THAT MANY different phone models with SO MANY different chargers.

I always believed that batteries, or at least the chargers were, and would be generic! Silly isn't it?

On a side note: Chargers don't only appear at train stations, but also at bars. If you knew the bar owners well enough, you'd be able to plug your phone in for a recharge.

That's ingenius, I can't believe I've never seen it here! Is there a monetary charge to load up on the electricity?

I am familiar with these charging arrangements. The coolest one I've seen yet was at a company I was visiting. It was like a drawer, and you put your battery in the drawer - anyway you wanted - just plut it down in the drawer at random. Then you close the drawer, and push the charge button. It automatically "found" the battery terminals and refilled your charge. Cool.

hteekay: Yeah man, unfortunately civic conciousness in Malaysia isn't exactly the best...

Chris: Really?! I must find me one of those. Sounds way cool!

I saw my company has one at the back office, only 5 min charge can get full bar, express charger. But so far i haven't try it.

There's on in The Curve (that's a mall in KL). not actually the curve, but in a boutique there. there are four bays to charge your phones (sony erricson only) and there's a notice that says "leave your phone here at your own risk".

but ya... it's already happening here.

elsewhere... my brother's identified all the power points in megamall where he can sit down and plug his charger in. he's a genius with that. he's found all these hidden power points behind benches.

jo: Your company is probably giving people an excuse to go to the backroom to "curi tulang" la... :P

fergus: That's Malaysia for you... "Leave at own risk". Sometimes I wished I could bring back Korea's civic mindedness back home! :P
